We will be implementing an important security setting aimed at preventing incorrectly configured traffic from being accepted by our video platform.

Our commitment to ensuring a secure and reliable experience for your organization remains at the forefront of our efforts.

Why are we making this change?

This proactive measure is designed to safeguard your video communications from potential vulnerabilities that might arise from improperly configured network settings.

That means, if not set up correctly, certain network configurations could lead to increased server load, potentially impacting the smooth flow of legitimate traffic.

Example: In some scenarios, specific configurations involve the utilization of distinct private IP ranges, such as 192.168.0.xxx, to represent the origin of data (analogous to an incorrect address on a package).

These IP addresses are embedded in headers that provide information about the traffic's source.
While private IP ranges are meant for internal use within networks and should not be exposed to the public internet, there have been instances where these ranges are mistakenly used.

What is changing?

To ensure the utmost security of your video communications, our upcoming security setting will reject traffic that originates from incorrectly configured sources, such as private IP ranges. By doing so, we aim to prevent any inadvertent exposure of your video content to unauthorized entities.

Will this change affect the services?

By default, no services would be affected.

Only requests arriving on our ingresses with a header set to a private IP will be rejected.

Do I need to take any action?

Please check with your network team to make sure the Private IP is not reaching the internet. If it is not reaching, then no actions or changes will be required from your side.

If it is reaching, the Proxy or Firewall should be configured to replace the header from Private IP to Public IP.

We want to assure you that this transition will be carefully monitored, and our team will be readily available to assist with any questions or concerns that may arise.

If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
